Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a method of healing derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) dating back over 2,000 years. It centers around the idea of Qi (vital energy/life force) which is the determinate factor in achieving optimal health and wellness. Qi flows through meridians or pathways reaching all aspects of the body, and can be accessed and manipulated at precise points. Acupuncture is done by inserting tiny needles at these points (chosen per individual) based on well established diagnostic techniques. Stimulation of these points encourages the body to promote natural healing by igniting powerful mechanisms already present within the body. It can be used to treat a variety of health conditions or to improve overall wellness.

Michele Dolan L.Ac is a NYS licensed acupuncturist, highly trained in the art of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).  Her decision to obtain a career in alternative medicine stems from a strong passion to help people regain a sense of happiness and well being.  She began her path toward holistic health care by completing a BS in Biology at the University at Albany.  Learning about the body led to a special interest in exercise, nutrition and overall wellness, becoming a life focus.  With an overwhelming desire to promote natural healing, she continued on to East West College of Natural Medicine, obtaining an MS in Oriental Medicine and BA in Professional Health Sciences.  Michele strives to combine techniques of acupuncture, herbal remedies and nutritional therapy to ignite healing mechanisms within the body for all natural, long lasting results.

Discover Your Healing Potential

Chinese Medicine is a very comprehensive system of medicine dating back 3,500 years.  It can be used to address a variety of ailments from minor imbalances to chronic conditions. It is based on the belief that the human body is in an ever changing state of balance both internally and with the outside world.  Excessive physical, mental and emotional influences can disturb the equilibrium and we become sick.

Treatment with Chinese Medicine is designed to suit individual needs and involves not just acupuncture and herbs, but also moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, and dietary and lifestyle advice.

Acupuncture is probably the most utilized tool in treatment due to its profound effect on healing mechanisms already present within the human body.  Tiny, sterile needles (about the size of a cat hair) are inserted into selected points, which vary depending on the condition.  Many people with a fear of needles resolve their concern within the first treatment – they do not resemble those used in injections or conventional medicine.  Most people enjoy the experience and are surprised at the level of relaxation achieved.

The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture and Oriental medicine to have a therapeutic effect on nearly four dozen common ailments, including neuromusculoskeletal conditions (such as arthritis, neuralgia, insomnia, dizziness, and neck/shoulder pain); emotional and psychological disorders (such as depression and anxiety); circulatory disorders (such as hypertension, angina pectoris, arteriosclerosis and anemia); addictions to alcohol, nicotine and other drugs; respiratory disorders (such as emphysema, sinusitis, allergies and bronchitis); and gastrointestinal conditions (such as food allergies, ulcers, chronic diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, intestinal weakness, anorexia and gastritis).

What is it?

Feng Shui is the ancient art of arranging and clearing spaces to enhance the energy flow and supportive nature of an environment.  A home should feel like a sanctuary.  Often the personal challenges faced on a daily basis coincide with the condition of where we are spending the most time.  When living spaces are cleared and balanced, life experiences often follow.

How can I help?

As a Feng Shui consultant, I rely strongly on intuition but am guided by knowledge of ancient Chinese clearing and spatial arranging techniques to help you feel the best you can in your home or office .  Working together, we can support desired personal changes and create the optimal environment for you to flourish.

What to expect?

I start with an analysis of your personality and home using a combination of Numerology, Chinese Astrology and 5 element theory based on basic information gathered through phone or email.  We then schedule the physical portion of consultation.  Using energy detecting techniques, we go over the footprint of your home to discover imbalances and focus on any specific areas of concern.  The assessment of your space, discussion of influential factors and space clearing as a whole will take around 2 hours. Once a space is cleared, it is up to you to make the necessary changes.

When and how often do I have to Feng Shui my space?

Whenever you want, really.  I recommend having your space assessed and cleared when you are in need of a change, wanting clarity or simply just starting over.  Moving, building a home or office, transitioning in your personal life – these are all good times to make sure your environment suits your needs.

How much does it cost?

Feng Shui Analysis (2 hrs) = $200

Space Clearing (30 min) = $50

(An additional $20 will be added to areas 40 miles or more from Albany NY)
